AN ANOINTING FOR SACRED SPACES

Fragrance for Churches, Sanctuaries & Other Sacred Spaces

When your congregation enters your sanctuary, every sense is invited into worship. Sound, sight, touch… and scent.

SANCTUAIRE DE FLEURS Anointed Fragrance is more than a pleasant aroma. It is an anointing — a signature fragrance created to prepare hearts, set apart sacred ground, and embody the fragrance of Christ.

ROOTED IN SCRIPTURE & HISTORY

  • “For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved…” (2 Corinthians 2:15, ESV)

  • “Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians 5:2, ESV)

  • “The house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment.” (John 12:3, ESV)

From the incense of the Tabernacle (Exodus 30:34-38) to Mary anointing Jesus, fragrance has always signified holiness, worship, and the presence of God. Anointed Fragrance draws on this sacred tradition to enrich your sanctuary.

Who We Are

Our Vision

OUR FRAGRANCE PHILOSOPHY

  • We select notes that are welcoming and gentle (avoiding known allergen-heavy or polarizing aromas).

  • We help churches avoid overpowering or divisive scents, ensuring a serene and inclusive worship experience.

  • We take inspiration from the same principles luxury hotels use: aligning scent with atmosphere, décor, and desired emotional response — creating a fragrance that feels timeless, elegant, and unmistakably yours.

Guidelines for Churches Using the Pyramid

  • Top Notes: Use bright, gentle ingredients that immediately uplift without overpowering.

  • Middle Notes: Focus on florals and resins connected to Scripture (rose, frankincense, myrrh) — they ground the scent in tradition.

  • Base Notes: Choose warm, grounding elements that linger and create a sense of sacred continuity.

Key Principles (beside the pyramid)

  • Top Notes: Fresh, welcoming scents that gently greet worshippers.

  • Middle Notes: Floral and resinous accords echoing biblical traditions (rose, frankincense, myrrh).

  • Base Notes: Warm, grounding elements that linger, creating a sense of sacred continuity.

Notes to Avoid (small callout)

  • Overly sweet or synthetic notes (heavy gourmand scents).

  • Sharp aldehydes or harsh musks.

  • Extremely strong spices that may overwhelm sensitive congregants.

WHY YOUR CHURCH NEEDS A SIGNATURE FRAGRANCE

Why Fragrance?

  • Prepare Hearts for Worship: Scent signals holiness, beauty, and reverence before a word is spoken.

  • Identity & Memory: Like world-class hotels and spas, a signature scent becomes part of your church’s identity.

  • Extend Worship Beyond Sunday: Room sprays and diffusers can be offered to your congregation, extending the worship experience into their homes.

  • Excellence in Worship: Your sanctuary becomes multisensory, embodying beauty and reverence for the King.

How Hotels / Hospitality Make Selections

Hotels and Hospitality

  • They often select a signature scent so that guests remember the property. The scent is part of brand identity.

  • They start by designing mood boards: what atmosphere do they want (calming, energizing, luxury, comfort)? Then select notes consistent with that mood.

  • They test in guest rooms / common areas to see how smell travels with air system, how it reacts with fabrics, how long it lasts.

  • They balance novelty & familiarity — people like scents that feel luxurious but not too foreign; they avoid polarizing notes.

  • Scent choices often align with décor, location, climate (fresh notes for humid; warm woods/oriental for cooler).
